In 1981 BBC Radio 4 produced a dramatisation of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. These illustrations were used in the Radio Times. They're amazing considering that they only appeared 10mm high. They're not credited but the artist Eric Fraser (1902–1983) initialled one so we know who to thank. He also illustrated the Folio Society edition of The Lord of the Rings in 1977. Why I didn't cut out all 26 from the RT I can't say but I knew what I liked even then.
